Mischievous "demon" appears in the Five-Bridge Stamp Rally

The Kinugawa area is full of unique works of art. On display at the Fureai Bridge are entries from drawing contests, as well as a painting of a giant demon on stairs. The Kurogane Bridge, meanwhile, is famous for its bronze statues. With the magnificent scenery of Kinugawa River hot springs as your backdrop, you can enjoy a leisurely walk on The Five-Bridge Stamp Rally, a tour of the bridges crossing the Kinugawa River. Between March and August this year, a new character will make his appearance at the foot of these bridges − a total of five small porcelain statues of a mischievous little demon named "Kinuta" will be installed. The work of a renowned Tochigi Prefecture ceramic artist, these Kinuta statues are based on a tradition of placing lucky demons at important sites to ward off evil.

In this season of warm weather and greenery emerging from its winter sleep, why not enjoy a refreshing stroll through the open-air art museum that is the Kinugawa area.
