“Yokoso! Japan Weeks 2009”
Tobu Railway and Kinugawa Hot Springs will participate in the “Yokoso! Japan Weeks” campaign again in 2009.

During the campaign period, from Jan. 20 to Feb. 28, 2009, Tobu Railway will present a high quality Tobu Railway clear file holder to every passenger who purchases both a discount pass and a special express ticket for the SPACIA Special Express. Tobu Railway’s SPACIA Special Express is a warm, comfortable and luxurious way of traveling to the Nikko/Kinugawa hot spring area.

The Nikko/Kinugawa hot spring area welcomes foreign visitors, and is ready to help them enjoy their travels with the following services and events specially designed for them.

  1. Our Yokoso! Japan Desk will be available inside Kinugawa Onsen Station, staffed with English and Chinese speakers ready to help foreign visitors.
  2. Foreign visitors will be provided with free tickets for the bus that travels a circular route from Kinugawa Onsen Station via Edo Wonderland. (Tickets will be available at the Yokoso! Japan Desk.)
  3. Foreign visitors will be provided with tickets to the free shuttle bus to hotels and Japanese inns. (Tickets will be available at the Yokoso! Japan Desk.)
  4. Currency exchange from US dollars is available to foreign visitors at the Yokoso! Japan Desk.

  1. A New Year Special Menu, which includes ozoni, oshiruko, and otoso, will be served to foreign visitors at participating hotels and Japanese inns. (Ozoni is rice dumplings boiled in vegetable soup, oshiruko is sweet bean paste soup with rice dumplings, and otoso is specially blended Japanese sake for the New Year.)
  2. Free hot spring baths in participating hotels and Japanese inns will be available for foreign visitors.
  3. Discounts will be available to foreign visitors who visit facilities in the Kinugawa Hot Spring area. *Conditions for the above special services will vary with each facility.

Feb. 7 - Feb. 8 (10:00 - 15:00)

Various events featuring the Chinese New Year will be held in the plaza in front of Kinugawa Onsen Station. Scheduled events include mochi pounding, Chinese lion dances, traditional New Year games like Japanese badminton and top spinning, all of which will welcome participation by foreign visitors; performances by a Chinese circus group, local entertainment with the Ryuo Daiko (Drum of the Dragon King), and concerts by the Symphony orchestra. Various kinds of stands will also be set up to entertain foreign visitors.
