Tobu Railway, Co., Ltd. and the local population welcome foreign tourists by sponsoring various events!!
Original goods giveaway and use of rollsigns for the “Visit Japan Year 2010” Winter Campaign

Tobu Railway, Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Sumida-Ku, Tokyo) will sponsor the following events from January 20 (Wed) through March 31 (Wed) as part of the “Visit Japan Year 2010” Winter Campaign, which marks the culmination of the “Visit Japan Campaign”, a private-public tourism campaign led by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO):

1. Original goods giveaway

Customers who purchase any of the three types of discount tickets for foreign tourists to the Nikko and Kinugawa hot spring areas will be presented with a set of original postcards, and customers who purchase express tickets together with the discount tickets will be given an original ticket holder (up to 3,000).

2. Express trains with “Visit Japan Year 2010” rollsigns

Tobu Railway, Co., Ltd. operates special express trains called “SPACIA” (with six cars) that start and finish at Asakusa Station on the Nikko Line from mid-January through March 31 with rollsigns designed based on the “Visit Japan Year 2010” logo.

3. Participation in “ANA Come and Visit Japan! ” Campaign by ANA Group

Through a tie-up with Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd, Tobu Railway, Co., Ltd. is selling the “Tokyo Stay Support Ticket Set” exclusively to Chinese customers who use ANA flights. This ticket set combines “Skyliner & Metro-Passes” and Tobu’s discount tickets for foreign tourists (Tobu Nikko Tour Ticket) designed for trips to downtown Tokyo and tours of Nikko. The ticket set will be available at Narita Airport Station from January 20 (Wed) through March 31 (Wed). Customers who purchase the ticket sets will receive one of the original gifts supplied by the participating companies.

4. “YOKOSO NIKKO WEEKS” (February 13 (Sat) through March 7 (Sun)) sponsored by Nikko/Kinugawa and Yunishikawa hot spring districts

  1. “YOKOSO JAPAN DESKS” information desks for foreign tourists will open at Tobu Nikko Station, Kinugawa-Onsen Station and Yunishikawa-Onsen Station from February 13 (Sat) through February 18 (Thu). “Foreign tourists who visit the desks will be given a set of chopsticks made from Japanese cedar.”
  2. The Tourism Associations in Nikko/Kinugawa and Yunishikawa hot springs will sponsor various special events for the lunar new year including a spring snow festival, a snow festival, a candle pageant and a snow hut festival.
  3. The residents of the Kinugawa hot spring district, including those working for the Tourism Association, hotels/inns and the theme park, will welcome foreign tourists by distributing free local bus tickets and providing various other services for foreign tourists at hotels/inns and leisure facilities.
