This is the second installment of our ethical beer series, packed with the charm of the region and the spirit of "Mottainai." In Nakagawa Town in eastern Tochigi Prefecture, where forestry is thriving, biomass power is generated by burning waste wood and thinnings produced during lumber production to generate electricity for the region, and the waste heat from this power generation is used to grow coffee. The seeds become coffee, but this beer uses the pulp left over from the process. The trend that began with the spirit of "Mottainai" (the desire to waste wood) continues with the pulp of the coffee.
