In Japan, most people visit shrines to show appreciation for the previous year, as well as to pray for the coming year to be a good one.
Nikko Futarasan Shrine is an excellent spot for this first visit! Depending on the time, the Shinkyo bridge is covered in snow, so you might be able to see mysterious scenery!
