In Asakusa, the Tori no Ichi event will be held at Chokokuji Temple and Otori Shrine, which are right next to each other! Tori no Ichi is held at shrines and temples throughout Japan on the day of the rooster (on the lunar calendar) in November. During this festival, people wish for good luck and fortune and business prosperity. Tori no Ichi has been held since Japan’s Edo Period. The day of the festival bustles with activity until late at night, and features gorgeous rakes lined up glittering with gold and silver, and powerful voices flying throughout. Tori no Ichi will be held on three days this year – November 5, 17, and 29! Enjoy this seasonal event from the Edo Period!
