The Uzuma river flows through Tochigi City. Every year from around mid-March, you can find Uzuma carp streamers raised here. The sight of 1151 carp streamers coloring the river is truly impressive – the number 1151 comes from its pronunciation sounding like “ii koi,” or “good carp” in Japanese. These colorful carp swimming through the sky are beloved as a highlight of spring, and you’ll want to take pictures of this beautiful sight. This year’s Uzuma Carp Streamers will be displayed until May 15. Enjoy this beautiful scenery of the Uzuma River that can only be experienced in spring.
