The Yagibushi Festival is held in Kiryu City in Gunma, from the first Friday in August to that Sunday. This summer festival combines the traditional culture and vitality of the region. During this festival, Honcho Street, Suehirocho Street, and Nishikicho Street become excellent places for pedestrians to walk through, with various events unfolding across around 2.5 kilometers. The Yagibushi, a folk song passed down throughout the Ryomo area, is the focus of this festival. Both locals and tourists unite in a wide circle of dancing, surrounding the raised yagura platforms set up at various spots throughout the city. Even if you don’t know how to perform the dance, participating by watching how others do it is a lot of fun. Visit this festival and create unforgettable summer memories.
