Ryuokyo Gorge

  • Nikko / Kinugawa Onsen / Aizu

Ryuokyo Gorge is an excellent place to see autumn leaves, and let you enjoy splendid nature created by the rocks, forests, and mountain streams. The fall colors typically reach their peak between late October and mid-November each year. The promenade in the gorge takes around 1 hour to walk through, and is colored by beautiful beech trees, as well as Japanese and other varieties of maple trees. The Nijimi Bridge, Musasabi Bridge, Grand View and Shiraiwa Peninsula are all especially popular as spots with amazing views. Recommended as the Kanto region’s best spot for seeing autumn leaves - where you can enjoy strolling and autumn leave viewing in relaxing forests while avoiding crowds.
