The Aizu Painted Candle Festival is a special winter evet held every February in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima. This year it will be held on February 13 and 14 2026 at Tsuruga Castle and other venues. During the festival, candles made in the local traditional craft style known as "Aizu Painted Candles" are lit, enveloping Tsuruga Castle and other areas in the city in gentle light. The candlelight flickering in the snowy scenery look truly magical, and truly different from the daytime. This unique Aizu festival makes for an enjoyable winter evening.
