Ashikaga Flower Park is known as one of Japan’s most famous places to see wisteria. More than 350 wisteria trees grow throughout the park, and in spring different varieties, such as purple, white, and yellow, bloom one after another. In particular, the massive wisteria trellis supported by a tree that is over 160 years old is quite impressive, and its long clusters of blossoms hang down to create an expansive dreamlike scene. The best time to see the wisterias here is from mid-April to early May, and large numbers of visitors come to this popular spot in the spring.
