Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park

  • Nikko / Kinugawa Onsen / Aizu

The Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park is a charming spot in Nikko City where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich natural beauty of Lake Chuzenji and the history of this international summer retreat. Originally built in 1928, the villa, which was used by successive ambassadors, has been restored to preserve the atmosphere of the luxurious summer lifestyle of the era. Designed by the renowned architect Raymond, the “Main Residence” is characterized by its cedar-bark cladding both inside and out. It features an open layout that makes the most of the scenery, including a living room with a fireplace and a wide veranda offering a panoramic view of the lake.
In addition, the “International Summer Resort History Museum (Secondary Residence),” nestled in the woods, features photographs and videos depicting how visitors enjoyed yachting and trout fishing back in the day. It is open from April through November, and a single admission ticket grants access to the British Embassy Villa Memorial Park as well. Why not visit and experience a luxurious moment in harmony with nature?
