The Aizu Tajima Gion Matsuri is a traditional Japanese festival dating back to the Bunji era of the Kamakura period (circa1185). According to the Gion faith of the current lord, Naganuma Munemasa, the Gion Matsuri was established recognizing the Gion deities (Gozu Tenno, Susano Onomikoto) as the guardians of the castle. From ancient times, it has been celebrated together with the festival celebrating the local deity of the Tadeuga Shrine of Tajima guardian.
