Irohazaka's vivid autumn foliage decorates the entrance to Oku-Nikko

  • Nikko / Kinugawa Onsen / Aizu

Irohazaka is a sightseeing road that connects Nikko city and the Oku-Nikko area. There are two separate roads, one going up and one going down, where people can enjoy the vivid autumn colors by car, motorcycle, and bicycle during this time of the year. Of course, buses also pass through these roads, so you can enjoy the autumn colors while sightseeing by bus too. The best time for the autumn foliage is from early to late October. After passing through Irohazaka, you will arrive at the vast Lake Chuzenji. This popular area becomes congested every year but is definitely worth checking out when visiting the Nikko and Kinugawa area. Checking the traffic conditions in advance is highly recommended.
