Trip to Ouchijuku to fully enjoy the winter scenery and hot springs

  • Other Destinations

Ouchijuku still retains the appearance of the post town it was in the Edo period. It is famous for its thatched roofs, which you may have seen in pictures. Ouchijuku is located in Shimogo-machi, south of Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture. In winter, the whole area is covered with snow, and you can enjoy a different scenery from summer. To visit Ouchijuku, take the Aizu Railway train from Aizuwakamatsu Station and get off at Yunokami-Onsen Station, from where you can take a bus or taxi. You can also enjoy beautiful illuminations at night during the snow festival held in February every year. If you visit Ouchijuku, we recommend taking a hot spring bath at Yunokami Onsen. The "YUTTARI (relaxing) AIZU TOBU FREE PASS" is convenient for sightseeing in the Aizu area.
*The situation with the running of the event may change daily due to COVID-19. Please check the information prior to your visit.
