Mount Nikko-Shirane, a 2,578-meter-high mountain, is located on the border of Tochigi and Gunma prefectures. It is selected as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, and is renowned for alpine flora in summer and red foliage in autumn. In winter, you can enjoy the snowy scenery. Regarding the hiking and mountain climbing courses, you can choose from a ropeway-accessible hiking course (for beginners) and the mountain climbing courses (for those with good legs and intermediate climbers). One of the features of Mount Nikko-Shirane is that you can enjoy it in variety of ways. The ropeway station at the top of the mountain has a terrace, cafe, and footbath, so don't miss them when taking the ropeway. The view from the top of the mountain is spectacular! The "Nikko Discount ticket" is a convenient and economical way to visit Nikko.
