The best part of the Minakami area are the hot springs! There are many hot springs in the area including Takaragawa Onsen, which is famous as a location for shooting films. This time, we introduce an itinerary for 1 night/2 days that enables visitors to fully enjoy the Minakami area, including rafting and glass making.

JR Jomo Kogen Station

Minakami Onsen can be conveniently accesses from JR Jomo Kogen Station. During winter and spring, travel becomes more convenient as Express Kanetsu Kotsu Buses♪Minakami Area Passes, including a 3-day all-you-can-ride bus pass, can be purchased at the station information center.

Tanigawadake Ropeway

Mt.Tanigawadake, 1,977 meters above sea level, is located in Joshin-Etsu National Park. The ropeway runs from Sanroku Station (746 meters above sea level) to Sancho Station (1,319 meters above sea level).

Tenzing View Terrace

Enjoy the wide view of the Tanigawa Mountain Range, from a height of 2,000 meters through the windows of a restaurant high in the air! Enjoy lunch with the superb view♪

Get off at Kamigawara bus stop on Kanestu Kotsu, then walk for 1 minute.

Tsukiyono Vidro Park

Tsukiyono Vidro Park is a glass-themed park, which centers around a glassworks, and features trial workshops, a museum, shops, a restaurant, and cafe.

Get off at Minakami Station Mae bus stop on Kanetsu Kotsu, then walk for 10 minutes.

Stay at a ryokan (Japanese style hotel) in the Minakami Onsen town

There are 9 hot springs in the Minakami Onsen area, including Minakami Onsen and Takaragawa Onsen. Minakami Onsen is situateds beside a stream that comes from the Tanigawa Mountain Range. Choose your favorite ryokan from among a selection to stay at and enjoy your time in the area.

Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku

Takaragawa Onsen, in Minakami-machi, Gunma prefecture, is the only hot spring in Japan that was chosen as one of the top 10 hot springs in the world in 2013 by Reuters. It takes approximately 2 hours to get there from Tokyo. The establishment has many baths including several large open air baths for mixed bathing for up to 200 people, and an open air bath exclusively for women.

To Tokyo

It takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes by Shinkansen to return to Tokyo. Alternatively, by bus it takes approximately 4 hours by Kanetsu Kotsu Express Bus from Minakami Onsen Station to Shinjuku♪*This service only operates for a certain period. Check relevant information for details.
